Is Vomiting an Emergency in a Dog?

Dogs can vomit for many reasons, and not all of them are a reason to take a trip to the vet. Pets often eat bizarre things that can upset their stomachs. Throwing up once isn’t necessarily an emergency. However, there are symptoms to look for that can indicate your dog is in trouble. Abnormal vomiting signs include:

  • Blood present in the vomit
  • Vomiting is ongoing for 12 hours or more
  • Vomit looks like it has coffee grounds in it
  • The dog obviously ate something he should not have

If your dog shows any of the above signs, take him to the vet. It is better to be safe than to risk permanent damage. For expert dog training, doggie daycare, or dog training in Pasadena, contact Obedience Please! Dog Training.
